Last night, on Greatest American Dog, we FINALLY said goodbye to Beth Joy and Bella Starlet. In my mind, they should have gone a long time ago! At the beginning of the show we see Beth Joy thanking Travis for throwing hottie Laura under the bus. Travis saw the need to defend Beth Joy's "love" of Bella Starlet. Bella Starlet showed her gratitude in a different way -- by snapping at, and almost biting Travis. Karma Mr. T!!
The best part of the show was the catfight between the two female judges, Victoria Stillwell and Wacko Wendy Diamond! While "judging" the Best in Show Challenge, a catfight erupted between the two female judges and, although I am sure it was edited for drama, the whole experience was awkward for any viewer. It looked like there was going to be a full-on throwdown. I actually think they should have had the two duke it out. I certainly would love to see that! Unfortunately, the skirmish did not add to the credibility of the contest.
Both of last night's challenges also seemed way far-fetched to me. First, the Dog Bone Challenge, where contestants teamed up to "rescue" one of the owners. One owner, was in charge of getting one of the dogs to ring a bell and then leading the other dog through the process of digging the second owner out of a hidden box/coffin. Travis and Bill won the challenge and received a leg up, as well as entry into the "Dog Bone Suite." A special treat awaited the two winners as well...they were able to call home. Travis called his mommy, while Bill called his wife...aka "Old Woman." I thought it was cute, but also a little awkward to watch...especially when they start to cry.
The contestants then went on to compete for "Best of Show" by leading their pooch through a maze using only their voice. The twist, each dog also had to befriend and lead three Golden Retriever puppies through the maze. Two teams did great, J.D. and Galaxy and Teresa and Leroy, with the latter team winning. Directly after the competition, while critiquing the contestants, the ladies engaged in the afore mentioned skirmish. Ultimately, the judges sent Beth Joy and Bella Starlet packing...FINALLY! Of course, she cried and said she never experienced true love until she met the pooch. They took their final lap and hit the road!
Stay tuned for next week's episode and just in case you missed it, here is a clip of Victoria and Wendy tussling. I could watch this all day! Cracks me up!!!

I thought it was funny that there was a cat fight on a dog show. And I agree, Beth Joy and Bella Starlet should have been gone a long time ago.

OMG did that middle contestant just cover her pup's ears? Somebody reach over and cover those doggies' eyes, too...in fact, cover mine! Those judges' mouths are as foul as their outfits. Tragic meets unfashionABLE. Bah!
