Looks like Miss O has a new pup running around Harpo! Word on the street (umm the promo for Friday's show) is that Oprah just couldn't leave the shelter without a cute Cocker Spaniel pup (not the one pictured here).
Not only do I think she is awesome for adopting from a shelter, but I think she is showing everyone that you CAN find any and every type of dog at a shelter. Purebred to mix-a-million there is a homeless pup somewhere who is a perfect fit for you and your family. oh please, with her money she should build a whole shelter and not just adopt one puppy.If people who don't have a billion dollars want to adopt a purebred they can go to the akc parent club rescue pages.

Im gonna have to disagree with Debie on this one! Way to go Oprah!!!!
I am grateful to Oprah for lending her name to the cause, which helps in and of itself. She has done several shows about Puppy Mills, and stuck true to her word of adopting a pet. She has a entire room at the Chicago PAWS shelter she paid for and furnished, and no doubt gives additional support to the organization.
Yes Oprah has a lot of money, but she isn't obligated to do anything with it at all.... I'm grateful she does though! Way To Go!

Absolutely, Brett!!! Ever heard of the Starfish theory? Made a difference to that one! (which, in turn, makes a difference to the NEXT one, and so on!) If more public figures would adopt ONE, people who might otherwise support puppy stores, breeders, etc., might also see that shelter dogs are not somehow "defective" and consider adopting, too. Until there are none, adopt one. Thank you, Oprah!
