A little over a year ago, Isabella's oldest sister Marley, a tortie calico passed away at 17 years-old. Marley and I found each other while I was in college and she truly was the coolest cat. Loved to go on trips, got along with dogs and most of all, was my constant companion. It was the first time I personally lost one of my animal kids and it was devastating to say the least. Of course, she had a great life and added so much to mine in 17 years...that special bond you form that will always be with you, even when they are gone.
Then came the Kitties!
After about 9 months, I started to think it would be okay to get another kitten. I knew exactly what I wanted...a rescue kitten, orange and a boy. Jackson joined our family last October when Laura from
SNAP and I were visiting the Harris County shelter with the
SNAP Mobile Clinic. Jackson was such a great addition to our family, a tiny little lap cat with a heart of gold. A week after he came home, we left to go to California to get married. Jackson went to stay with his favorite auntie Jean and all was well until the third night we were gone, when Jackson quietly and peacefully passed away in his sleep. He was in the best of care with Jean and most likely had a congenital heart problem that hadn't been detected. Needless to say, I thought that was the last of trying to get a kitten for a while.
Clara has adjusted to her new family quite quickly (batting at my fingers as I type) and is a healthy, energetic ball of feline feistiness. Soon, she will be heading to
SNAP to be spayed and then will become a regular client of
SNAP's Wellness Clinic. Of course I will update everyone on her progress and all of her experiences with SNAP. I will also post some fun vids of her soon. Nothing captures the fun of a kitten more than video :-)! You never know when one of these little helpless, and homeless animals will fall into your lives. I encourage you to look into rescuing your next cuddly kiddo. There are countless organizations with any animal you could want. A few I love and support are
Dakota Rescue,
CAP,
Houston Humane Society,
Cavalier King Charles Rescue of Houston,
HOPE and many, many more! If I have offended any groups, please let me know and I will include you in my rescue directory that I am pulling together. It is hard for me to find all, so please send us any that you know of so we can get a comprehensive list.
Just want to make sure HOPE is in your list, thanks. Congratulations on Clara. She looks a handful of love.

I remember Nicole telling me about it when you first fell in love with Jackson, and how sad we were for you both when he left too soon. I'm so glad that you two and Clara have found each other! Happy, happy life, Clara!
