Most of us humans have to wake up each morning and haul it in to work. Most of the time, our pups get to enjoy a day of air conditioned tranquility while we beat the heat and power through the rat race. Some dogs, however, have jobs that they must get off too. While they receive their pay in praises and most likely see it as nothing but fun, these dogs are providing not only great services but also saving lives, assisting the handi-capable and enforcing the law. As a tribute to these do-good dogs, I will be positing pics and prose submitted by anyone who has, knows or sees a working dog. Email me a pic from your camera, computer or cell, along with a brief description of the image and I will share with everyone!
Our first Dog at Work is the handsome Rudy Chisholm! Rudy is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel hailing from Lake Conroe. Beyond being a great boy, he is a therapy dog and spends much of his time visiting assisted living facilities and health care establishments for Therapy Pet Pals of Texas, Inc. I admit I am biased when it comes to Cavaliers. Rudy is a shining example of why! He brings light and joy into the lives of all of his "patients", providing therapeutic benefits and most of all, friendship, to those who often times would sit alone. Countless studies have shown the health benefit of animal interaction, but the best proof it works comes from the reaction of the patient when their friend arrives. Of course, in this job it is also important to recognize the dedication of their human. Even though Rudy is smart and hard-working, he can't drive! Rudy's mom Terry is as dedicated a volunteer and nurturer as they come. She is also part of the reason, in my opinion, that this type of therapy works. With Therapy Pet Pals of Texas and Rudy and Terry, patients not only get the treat of a visit from their furry friend, they also get to interact with passionate, caring and dedicated volunteers. How Cool is that!!!!!!! Make sure you swing by their website and see what you can do to help or how they can help you. Hope you enjoy some great pics of Rudy and Terry "working!" Don't forget to send me YOUR stories!
