Rover's Makeovers! Rover Oaks Pet Resort, Taking Homeless Pups from Bow to Wow!

 

 

The pup-tastic grooming staff at Rover Oaks Pet Resort in Katy are helping animals from Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) go from bow to wow by providing weekly doggie makeovers for two lucky CAP dogs each Wednesday. Both pups also receive a free grooming certificate from Rover Oaks Katy so their new adoptive parents can continue to keep them looking their best! 

Only one candidate was ready for her close up this week...Miss Lola, a three year old shih tzu/lhasa/terrier/we are not sure mix, found as a stray near Barker-Cypress and Forest Heights.

Whatever she is, she is cute! She was very matted, and had a lot of sticker burrs in the mats close to her skin, so she had to be shaved in order to start over. She has apparently never been groomed before and found the process a little scary, but once she realized it was making her feel better she was a very good girl. Lola is pretty calm and quiet...and once her stray hold is up on the 11th if her people haven't found her, she will be ready for a wonderful home.

Lola, along with many other wonderful dogs, cats and small animals, are waiting patiently for wonderful homes at Citizens for Animal Protection, 17555 Katy Freeway (I-10 at Barker-Clodine). You can also check them out on the web at www.cap4pets.org, but as there are many more animals at the shelter than are listed on the website it is definitely worth a visit.

HBHR Annual Garage Sale Fundraiser

This Valentine’s Day weekend, five Houston area animal welfare organizations are teaming up to help thousands of homeless and deserving animals find permanent, loving, forever homes.  The Houston Humane Society (HHS), Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP), HCPHES Veterinary Public Health, the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HSPCA), and BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions (BARC) encourage Houstonians to open their heart and their home to a homeless animal this February.  February 10^th – 12^th, each shelter will offer half off adoption fees for select pets to help homeless animals all over the Houston area find their true love.  Adoption policies, costs, promotions, date of promotions, and shelter hours may vary.  Make sure to contact each participating shelter for more information.

All five organizations have adorable, healthy pets of all breeds, colors, sizes and ages eagerly awaiting their new homes. We know people looking for a furry best friend are sure to find true, unconditional and lasting love when they open their hearts and give a homeless animal a second chance at life.

This week our makeovers feature two little white fluffies...Mr. Puppy, a 6 year old maltese/maybe lhasa/maybe coton de tulear mix and Avril, a 1 year old poodle/maybe maltese/maybe shih tzu mix.
