This Valentine’s Day weekend, five Houston area animal welfare organizations are teaming up to help thousands of homeless and deserving animals find permanent, loving, forever homes.  The Houston Humane Society (HHS), Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP), HCPHES Veterinary Public Health, the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HSPCA), and BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions (BARC) encourage Houstonians to open their heart and their home to a homeless animal this February.  February 10^th – 12^th, each shelter will offer half off adoption fees for select pets to help homeless animals all over the Houston area find their true love.  Adoption policies, costs, promotions, date of promotions, and shelter hours may vary.  Make sure to contact each participating shelter for more information.

All five organizations have adorable, healthy pets of all breeds, colors, sizes and ages eagerly awaiting their new homes. We know people looking for a furry best friend are sure to find true, unconditional and lasting love when they open their hearts and give a homeless animal a second chance at life.

Parvo is a very contagious, very serious disease that can affect any dog. Parvo can last up to three months in your dog’s system, and can kill your dog within 2-3 days if not treated properly. It is a tragic virus for any dog lover. 

Symptoms of Parvo may not be present in your dog for up to 14 days. The main symptoms include vomiting and extreme, foul smelling diarrhea. Parvo can quickly affect your dog and it is imperative to get him to the veterinarian as soon as possible. If left untreated, your dog will likely die from this disease.

Rover's Makeovers! Rover Oaks Pet Resort, Taking Homeless Pups from Bow to Wow!

The pup-tastic grooming staff at Rover Oaks Pet Resort in Katy are helping animals from Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) go from bow to wow by providing weekly doggie makeovers for two lucky CAP dogs each Wednesday. Both pups also receive a free grooming certificate from Rover Oaks Katy so their new adoptive parents can continue to keep them looking their best! 

This week our makeovers feature two little white fluffies...Mr. Puppy, a 6 year old maltese/maybe lhasa/maybe coton de tulear mix and Avril, a 1 year old poodle/maybe maltese/maybe shih tzu mix.
